Founded in 2018, Thotis Media is the most-trusted course guidance media in France. They help high school and higher education students navigate one of the most consequential decisions of their lives: what to study, where, and why. With 7 million users and 200 million views, Thotis was the first French education media to take course guidance seriously on social platforms, meeting students where they actually spend their time. Their credibility runs deep: official partnerships with the French Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education, and a personal visit from the French Minister of AI and Digitalization, who tried the Chatbase AI agents herself.

A mission content alone could not solve
The problem Thotis set out to solve in 2018 was clear: French students had no clear, accessible information about what to do after high school. Course guidance was opaque, scattered, and rarely spoke to students in a language they understood. Thotis built an answer through articles, downloadable PDF guides, and videos across YouTube and social media, and grew to millions of users on the back of it. But as they scaled, they hit a ceiling. Course guidance is inherently personal. Each student's profile, situation, and path is unique. Static content, no matter how well-produced, could not deliver the personalized advice every student actually needed.

Why generic AI was off the table
Plugging a generic chatbot into the site was never an option. Course guidance affects students' futures, and a hallucinating AI giving wrong advice on which university to attend or which Parcoursup choice to make would be disastrous. Thotis also had a unique asset most education media do not: official agreements with the French Ministries that gave them access to trustworthy government data. They needed an AI infrastructure that could be tightly grounded in that specific data and nothing else.

A constellation of 18 agents built on Chatbase
Rather than build one giant chatbot trying to do everything, Thotis built a constellation of 18 specialized AI agents on Chatbase, each grounded in their official data and each designed for a specific moment in a student's journey. The first was a Parcoursup agent, built around the moment Pierre describes as one of the most stressful in a French student's life: the centralized application process that decides where they go after high school. From there, the team kept building. Predictor helps students get a clearer sense of their chances during the period when they have to decide what to do next. Memoir helps students with their academic dissertations. Every agent is grounded in Thotis's own documentation and their licensed government data, so answers are always traceable to a source.
