8 Best WhatsApp Chatbots for Ecommerce in 2026

A shopper asks if a jacket comes in medium. Another wants to know where an order is. A third leaves checkout after seeing the delivery cost. All three conversations can happen on WhatsApp, but they need different tools behind the chat.

Answering an order question and sending a checkout reminder sound similar on a feature list. They use different parts of Shopify: one reads order data after a shopper messages you; the other starts a WhatsApp message after a store event. Some tools handle both. The comparison focuses on what works on WhatsApp and what the full setup costs.

We based this comparison on each provider's help docs and pricing pages. For every tool, we looked at two things separately: how it answers shoppers who message first, and whether Shopify events can trigger a WhatsApp message. We haven't tested these workflows in a live store, and prices and plan limits may change.

1. Chatbase: AI shopping and order support across channels

[object Object]

Best for: A Shopify store that wants one AI agent to answer product and order questions on WhatsApp, with the same knowledge and support workflows available on other channels.

With Shopify connected, Chatbase can help a customer find products, answer questions, add items to a cart, and retrieve order details on WhatsApp. Its recent Shopify order actions also let agents create orders on WhatsApp and send some exchange requests for human approval. A support agent can take over when a question needs a person. Chatbase also supports WhatsApp automation for inbound chats and outbound campaigns.

Chatbase includes a helpdesk where staff can pick up conversations the agent hands over.

Pricing: The Chatbase pricing page lists a free plan for testing. Hobby is $40 per month with integrations and 700 message credits. Standard is $150 per month and adds a helpdesk and outbound campaigns. Extra credits cost $40 per 1,000. WhatsApp message charges may be separate.

Limit: Chatbase offers WhatsApp outbound campaigns, but its published material does not document a native Shopify abandoned-checkout trigger. A store that needs automatic recovery should confirm how the first message starts and whether that step needs another tool. The agent can discuss a cart, but that alone does not send a recovery message.

2. Zoko: Shopify sales and recovery on WhatsApp

[object Object]

Best for: A Shopify store that wants checkout follow-ups, order messages, and sales conversations in one WhatsApp-focused platform.

Zoko connects Shopify events with WhatsApp flows for abandoned checkout, order updates, and other store messages. Its catalog tools support selling in chat; its optional AI agents handle tasks such as order tracking and sales replies. Staff can manage conversations from a shared workspace.

Pricing: Zoko lists Starter at $49.99 per month, plus $0.015 per conversation and WhatsApp charges. Its essential abandoned-checkout flow is included. AI agents start at $24.99 per agent per month, with agent-specific usage fees. Custom flows or edits to included flows can add to the bill.

Limit: Its included checkout flow may not match every store's timing or offer rules. Ask whether changing the flow requires paid customization.

3. WATI: Shopify-triggered WhatsApp checkout recovery

[object Object]

Best for: A store whose main requirement is a clear, automated response to a Shopify abandoned checkout.

WATI has a checkout recovery rule that starts when Shopify records Customer Abandoned Checkout. WhatsApp is the main channel. The default flow sends three reminders, then stops if the customer buys or replies. You can also set a fallback channel. WATI has a separate add-to-cart flow for shoppers it can identify; a cart and a started checkout have different rules.

WATI's published checkout recovery rule specifies the timing: the first reminder is scheduled 15 minutes after abandonment, the second one hour later, and the third 24 hours after that. It cancels pending reminders if the shopper completes checkout. These are the documented defaults, not the result of a delivery test.

WATI also has a shared inbox. Its Shopify app lists an AI agent for FAQs and product help under the Pro plan. If product advice matters as much as recovery, test a live catalog question and an item that just sold out.

Pricing: The WATI Shopify app listing starts at $69 per month for Growth. Pro is $149 per month and lists the AI agent for FAQs and product help. Message fees are extra; Pro also lists separate charges for extra users, automation credits, and AI credits. Both plans show a seven-day trial.

Limit: WATI's recovery rules require the shopper to meet identity and consent conditions. Some abandoned sessions will not lead to a WhatsApp reminder. Its help article says the templates used for its documented automated recovery messages cannot be edited.

4. DelightChat: WhatsApp marketing with a support inbox

[object Object]

Best for: A Shopify team that wants to work from one inbox for WhatsApp and other support channels while running WhatsApp marketing automations.

DelightChat has WhatsApp checkout recovery, order messages, and a product catalog. Its catalog setup can turn a customer's WhatsApp cart into a Shopify draft order and send a checkout link. The link appears in chat; payment may take place elsewhere.

Pricing: DelightChat lists Startup at $29 per month, plus WhatsApp charges. That plan includes 500 support tickets and 2,500 marketing contacts per month, with paid overages. Its pricing page lists cart and checkout recovery under Startup, alongside a 14-day trial and an onboarding call. Its AI writing assistant is a separate paid add-on.

Limit: The catalog flow moves items from a WhatsApp cart into a Shopify draft order. That alone does not show how well the system helps a shopper choose between similar products.

5. Zipchat: AI replies alongside WhatsApp cart recovery

[object Object]

Best for: Stores that want the customer to get a useful answer after replying to an automated recovery message.

Zipchat can send a message after Shopify marks a cart as left behind. The message can show the item and a checkout link. Its AI can reply if the shopper asks about fit, delivery, or another item. A person can step in when needed.

Pricing: Zipchat lists Starter at $64 per month billed annually, or $80 with monthly billing. It includes 750 AI replies per month; 250 extra replies cost $49. WhatsApp is listed as an included channel, and a seven-day trial is available. Meta charges for eligible outbound messages still need a separate budget.

Limit: The reply is where product data matters. A shopper who asks whether an item will arrive by Friday needs a current answer. Test a recent stock or price change before relying on the AI's reply.

6. Tidio: Lyro product advice for stores already using Tidio

[object Object]

Best for: A store that already uses Tidio for chat and wants Lyro to answer WhatsApp product questions.

Tidio says Lyro's Shopify product recommendations work on WhatsApp. It also has Shopify order support and ways to pass a chat to staff.

Pricing: Tidio lists Starter at $24.17 per month, billed annually, for 100 billable support conversations. Lyro AI starts at $32.50 per month for 50 AI conversations and can be bought separately. The 50 Lyro conversations included with Starter are a one-time allowance; ongoing AI use needs a paid Lyro plan. Flows has its own paid quota.

Limit: Tidio documents Shopify cart triggers, but those instructions do not show a WhatsApp recovery message being sent. A store buying it for recovery needs proof of the full flow, from cart event to delivered message.

7. Gorgias: WhatsApp AI for an existing support team

[object Object]

Best for: A Shopify brand whose agents already handle support in Gorgias and want AI to answer incoming WhatsApp questions.

Gorgias's WhatsApp AI Agent can answer incoming messages for Shopify stores. It can use store details for order questions and pass a ticket to staff. Its shopping tools can help buyers find items. The WhatsApp AI Agent is still labeled beta.

Pricing: Gorgias lists Starter at $10 per month for 50 tickets and Basic at $60 per month for 300 tickets. Extra Starter tickets cost $0.40 each; Basic lists $40 per additional 100 tickets. AI Agent automation can add outcome-based charges on top of helpdesk ticket charges.

Limit: We did not find a documented native Gorgias flow that sends a WhatsApp message after a Shopify checkout is left behind. A partner may be needed for that step, with its own setup and cost.

8. TextYess: WhatsApp sales and lifecycle messaging

[object Object]

Best for: Ecommerce teams that want product conversations and follow-up campaigns built around WhatsApp.

TextYess says its WhatsApp sales setup uses store product data for recommendations, order chats, and cart recovery. Its published material covers Shopify and WooCommerce.

Pricing: TextYess displays £214 per month for Pro, including one channel, 1,000 outbound messages, and 1,000 AI replies. WhatsApp is shown as an included channel. Confirm the billing currency and any WhatsApp charges before subscribing.

Limit: Its public material leaves the exact Shopify trigger, stock refresh timing, and staff handoff unclear.

Before you compare recovery rates, check who can receive a message

An abandoned cart can occur before a shopper enters checkout. At that point, a store may not know who the shopper is or have a usable phone number. An abandoned checkout starts later and can provide contact details, but that still does not make every shopper eligible for marketing messages.

A recovery flow only reaches an eligible shopper. It needs an event, a known customer, permission to send, an approved template, and a rule that stops later messages after purchase. WATI spells out these steps in its help center. Meta's WhatsApp pricing depends on delivered messages, their category, and the shopper's market. Marketing sends can add to the software bill.

Which platform should your store choose?

If shoppers mostly ask for help before and after a purchase, start with Chatbase. It covers product advice, order questions, and handoff to staff. For the support side, AI order tracking for ecommerce covers what an agent needs to answer a shopper's delivery question.

If your immediate goal is Shopify-triggered WhatsApp recovery, compare Zoko, WATI, DelightChat, and Zipchat. Their AI replies, stop rules, and costs differ. In particular, find out whether a purchase cancels pending reminders.

If your team already uses a support desk, Tidio and Gorgias may fit your daily work. Their WhatsApp AI handles incoming support; neither has a native WhatsApp recovery flow confirmed here. Our comparison of Shopify customer service apps also covers inbox and ticket needs beyond WhatsApp.

If you also need WhatsApp for lead capture or other work outside ecommerce, the broader WhatsApp chatbot comparison covers platforms built for those jobs.

Calculate a realistic monthly cost

A low base fee can rise as you send recovery messages and use AI. Price the same sample month for every tool: likely WhatsApp marketing sends, AI chats, team seats, and support tickets. Add setup or flow fees. Keep Meta's message charges apart from the vendor fee.

For example, a store using Chatbase Standard pays $150 per month for 4,000 message credits and three members. If it buys one extra pack of 1,000 credits for $40 that month, the Chatbase subtotal is $190.

Meta's WhatsApp charges sit on top of that subtotal and depend on what the store sends and where the shopper lives. Chatbase credits and Meta's delivered-message charges are different units, so 1,000 credits should not be treated as 1,000 WhatsApp marketing messages.

Frequently asked questions

Can a WhatsApp chatbot automatically recover Shopify abandoned checkouts?

Yes, if the platform supports a Shopify checkout event that starts a WhatsApp sequence. WATI documents one such trigger, and Zoko, DelightChat, and Zipchat publish recovery workflows. The ability to send outbound campaigns alone does not prove an automatic checkout trigger.

Can customers pay for a Shopify order inside WhatsApp?

Some platforms create an order or share a checkout link during a WhatsApp conversation. DelightChat, for example, documents creating a Shopify draft order from a WhatsApp catalog cart and sending a checkout link. Ask where the customer completes payment; a link sent in chat is not proof that payment happens there.

Can a WhatsApp bot recommend products that are in stock?

It can when the provider connects the WhatsApp conversation to suitable product data. The practical question is how fresh the stock data is and what the bot says when it cannot confirm availability.

Do abandoned-cart messages need customer permission?

Yes. A store should check the applicable WhatsApp marketing permission and approved template requirements before sending recovery messages. It also needs the shopper's usable contact details. A recorded cart or checkout event alone does not guarantee the shopper will receive a reminder.

Give shoppers useful answers on WhatsApp

Start with the chats your team gets today: product questions, order status, and requests that need a person. You can build a WhatsApp agent, connect Shopify, and test those questions on WhatsApp. The WhatsApp chatbot setup instructions cover the connection steps. If you also need checkout recovery, confirm what starts the first message before you launch.
